This doll is a handmade artist doll from the 1970's, by doll manufacturer Hedler in Arnstadt, East Germany (former DDR). Many Hedler dolls were inspired by the dolls of the miniature town 'Mon Plaisir' of Princess Auguste Dorothea of Schwarzburg-Arnstadt (1666–1751).
This doll depicts the fairytale character Rumpelstilzchen (in English Rumpelstiltskin) holding a bundle of wood branches. You can find more info about him here. He has a cloth over wire frame body with a stockinette face. His eyes are tiny black beads, eyebrows and eyelashes are painted on, his mouth is stitched on. He has plastic hands. He is wearing glasses made of metal wire. Stand not included.
