These dolls are part of a series of more than 100 dolls, all dressed differently in authentic Dutch regional costumes, often carrying little attributes like baskets, flowers and so on. They are standing on their own brown plastic or wooden nameplates. It is a fantastic series and it is not easy to find them all.
Two Dutch dolls from Scheveningen, a seaside town in the Zuid Holland province in The Netherlands. The female is dressed in traditional Sunday costume. She is holding a plastic fish. She wears a plain white underskirt. Her original nameplate is missing (stand from picture not included). The male is dressed as a fisherman or sailor. He wears a hand knitted fisherman's sweater and wooden clogs and carries an anchor on a rope. There is also an anchor attached to his sweater. He is standing on a thin plastic nameplate marked 'Scheveningen'. The nameplate has a little damage along the edge. Both dolls are fine.
