These dolls are part of a series of more than 100 dolls, all dressed differently in authentic Dutch regional costumes, often carrying little attributes like baskets, flowers and so on. They are standing on their own brown plastic or wooden nameplates. It is a fantastic series and it is not easy to find them all.
A matching couple of Dutch dolls from the former island of Schokland in the Flevoland province in The Netherlands (Holland). The scarf the male is wearing is actually a 'boeren zakdoek' which means 'farmer's handkerchief' and is red with traditional patterns. The female wears a red underskirt. They are plastic dolls, both standing their thin plastic nameplates marked 'Schokland'. One nameplate has a little crack in front. Fine otherwise.
