This doll is part of a series of more than 100 dolls, all dressed differently in authentic Dutch regional costumes, often carrying little attributes like baskets, flowers and so on. They are standing on their own brown plastic or wooden nameplates. It is a fantastic series and it is not easy to find them all.
Dutch doll from Terschelling in The Netherlands (Holland). Terschelling is part of the Wadden Islands and belongs to the province of Friesland. She wears traditional daily working dress consisting of a long dark red blouse over a black skirt with a checkered apron. A red flannel underskirt completes the outfit. Her underbonnet is made of lace. She is a plastic doll with eyes that open and close, standing on her own thin plastic nameplate marked 'Terschelling'. The nameplate has a little crack on one side. Fine otherwise.
