This doll is part of a series of more than 100 dolls, all dressed differently in authentic Dutch regional costumes, often carrying little attributes like baskets, flowers and so on. They are standing on their own brown plastic or wooden nameplates. It is a fantastic series and it is not easy to find them all.
Pair of Dutch dolls, both from the Veluwe area in the Gelderland province in The Netherlands (Holland). The female is wearing the costume of the farming village Hierden. She is holding a wooden foot stove. A red underskirt completes her outfit. The male wears the working garments of a farmer. A red 'boeren zakdoek' or 'farmers handkerchief' is around his neck. He carries a scythe for harvesting crops. They are plastic dolls with eyes that open and close. Marked 'Hierden' and 'Veluwe' on their stands.
