This is an older doll with the upper body made of celluloid, the lower part is made of coneshaped stuffed cloth. She is wearing the traditional sunday costume of the Friesland province. Under the bonnet is a golden casque or 'oorijzer' (simulated by gold paper), a form that has evolved from a simple clasp with 2 knobs pressed against the cheeks to a helmet type casque, to show the wealth of the owner. A velvet bag is attached to the waist.
