Doll wearing the traditional costume of a Cornish bal maid, made in Cornwall in England (part of the United Kingdom). Vinyl head, the rest is harder plastic. Movable head and arms, legs do not move. With two stickers attached. Note the double set of aprons. The inner lining of her blue with white flowers underskirt has a tear along the back seem but condition is fine otherwise.
Here's the story on the stickers:
'Cornish Bal Maid. Less than 100 years ago girls were employed to break rocks at the surface of the tin mines, earning only 4d. and 6d. per day.' And 'Cornish costume dolls dressed by hand at the Little Gallery, 58 Chapel Street, Penzance, Cornwall'.
