This doll is part of a series of more than 100 dolls, all dressed differently in authentic Dutch regional costumes, often carrying little attributes like baskets, flowers and so on. They are standing on their own brown plastic or wooden nameplates. It is a fantastic series and it is not easy to find them all.
Matching pair of Dutch dolls from the Friesland province in The Netherlands (Holland), dressed in the costume of Hindeloopen. The female is wearing the costume of an unmarried woman. An unmarried girl wears her shawl to the right to show that her hart (on the left side) is still free! She wears a striped underskirt. They are plastic dolls with eyes that open and close. Both marked 'Hindeloopen' on their stands.
