This is a doll dressed in the everyday costume for unmarried girls from Walcheren in the Zeeland province in The Netherlands. She is wearing a short sleeved black jacket, the sleeves are edged with velvet ribbon. Underneath the jacket is the 'beuk', in real life consisting of 2 pieces of fabric sewn together that cover chest and back. The doll has a black skirt with a red and white checkered apron used for work. The bonnet is typical for girls. A cotton underskirt with 1950's or 1960's print and white cotton knickers complete her outfit. Wooden cloggs and black panties. The doll is made of plastic with eyes that open and close. Very good condition except for her bonnet that has discolored a lot (it should be white) but it seems removable so a gentle cleaning is possible. With label 'Dovina, Rotterdam - Holland' sewn to the back of her skirt. Size 30 cm/12 inches. More pictures below. The postcard shows an example of the real costume and is not included in this sale!
