This doll represents a wealthy farmer's wife in sunday costume from the Friesland province in The Netherlands. A pretty doll made of plastic with eyes that open and close. Costume with lots of lace and nice shiny blue fabric with silver/grey flowerpatterns woven in. She wears a short sleeved jacket and skirt. Her apron is made out of lace entirely, as well as the shawl that is around her shoulders. Her underwear is cotton fabric with a nice 1950's or 1960's print. A chain is hanging from her waist. Gold paper is under her lace bonnet to simulate the gold metal 'oorijzer' or helmet type casque that is traditionally worn to keep everything in place. She is in very good condition with her white panties slightly soiled. With label 'Dovina, Rotterdam - Holland' sewn to the back of her skirt. Size 30 cm/12 inches. More pictures below.
