A matching pair of dolls made in Spain without any marks or tags but most likely made by Layna. The dolls are wearing the costume of Valencia. They are made of cloth over wire, they have molded faces covered with fabric. They are able to stand by themselves when placed arm in arm. They are in very good shape for their age, considering the fact that they date from the 1950's. Some yellowing of the whites, they are fine otherwise. They are made with incredible detail. The female is wearing a cotton flowerprint dress with gauze shouldershawl and apron edged with many little sequins. The male is wearing a red satin suit with a woolen blanket around his shoulders with pompoms at both ends. Pompoms are on his cap too. Size 23 cm/9 inches.
