More than 100 different models of this type of doll have been produced, all representing dutch regional costume. They are dressed in a very authentic way and often carry little atrributes like baskets, flowers and so on. They are standing on their own brown plastic or wooden nameplates. It is a fantastic series and it is not easy to find them all. These dolls are two of them. This lovely matching pair of dolls is from the island of Texel in the Noord Holland province in The Netherlands. Texel is part of the Wadden Islands. The dolls are wearing their sunday best. The female has a white cotton underskirt and white socks. Under her lace bonnet is a gold metal piece or 'oorijzer' to keep everything in place, simulated by gold paper. Green velvet bag. They are plastic dolls with eyes that open and close. The male's black costume has very slightly discolored at the front, hardly noticeable. The female is fine. Size 19 cm/7,5 inches. Very good condition for the dolls, they have lost their original brown stands but the two white round stands on the photo are included in this sale as a replacement. More pictures below.
