This doll represents a rich and wealthy farmer's wife in full sunday costume from the Friesland province in The Netherlands. She is dressed to go out and show off! Lots of lace and nice accessories. She wears a black jacket and skirt with white little flowers, the jacket is edged with black lace ribbon. Her apron is made out of black lace entirely, as well as the shawl that is around her shoulders. Her underwear is plain white fabric. She carries a handbag that can open and close.  A pair of scissors and a key are on a chain hanging from her waist. Gold paper is under her lace bonnet to simulate the gold metal 'oorijzer' or helmet type casque that is traditionally worn to keep everything in place. The white fabrics of her costume have yellowed somewhat over time, this doll is at least 40 years old according to a former owner! She does have a vague smell as if she lived in a smoker's homer before she came to poppentopper.com (no smoking here!) but apart from that she is in very good condition. The doll looks to be a Wildebras doll. Wildebras is a dutch doll brand made by the firm 'Het Poppenrijk' in Steenwijk from 1946 until 1973. This is a plastic doll with molded hair, no marks. Size including hat 38 cm/15 inches.
